Awesome email

i received a lot of emails in a day ... this one worth posted here.

A lecturer when explaining stress management to an audience,
> raised a glass of water and asked
> 'How heavy is this glass of water?'
>
> Answers called out ranged from 20g to 500g.
>
> The lecturer replied, 'The absolute weight doesn't matter.
> It depends on how long you try to hold it.
>
> If I hold it for a minute, that's not a problem.
>
> If I hold it for an hour, I'll have an ache in my right arm.
>
> If I hold it for a day, you'll have to call an ambulance.
>
> In each case, it's the same weight, but the longer I hold it, the
> heavier it becomes.'
>
> He continued,
>
> 'And that's the way it is with stress management.
>
> If we carry our burdens all the time, sooner or later,
>
> as the burden becomes increasingly heavy,
>
> we won't be able to carry on. '
>
> 'As with the glass of water,
>
> you have to put it down for a while and rest before holding it again.
>
> When we're refreshed, we can carry on with the burden.'
>
> 'So, before you return home tonight, put the burden of work down
>
> Don't carry it home
>
> You can pick it up tomorrow.
>
> Whatever burdens you're carrying now,
>
> let them down for a moment if you can.'
>
> So, my friend, Put down anything that may be a burden to you right
> now.
>
> Don't pick it up again until after you've rested a while.
>
> Here are some great ways of dealing with the burdens of life:
>
> * Accept that some days you're the pigeon,

obama president?

1) i dont really care that much about who american president is and i dont understand why a lot of people pay so much attention to all that. for me it is not to be taken at face value. whatever good impression displayed to the public it is always a massive well orchestrated machinery behind it. it is not simple policy and ballot box democracy. media impression is bigger element not to be discounted ... broad brush overview - probably i've read too many conspiracy novels ???

2) american media influence is something we cannot denied . since we get to know 'the box' - used to be wooden box with sliding door and legs and big crowd faced it to watch the low pixel black and white images of six million dollar man and all that , without we realised we have allowed our world view to be blurred by their vision and impression. However what i heard from a friend who went there about 1 month ago( i've never been to the us myself) - the american tvs show mostly american shows and news but almost blanket the american from other news and issues in the world and only 5% of americans have passport - how ignorant they are to the rest of the world ...and yet people of the world care so much about o b a m a ?

october catch up

1) yes i have not written for quite a while .... more than a month to be exact ... but for those who know me ....can always catch up in my other sites ... well while waiting for my wife to fetch me .... maybe good to pen down something to kill the time.

2) we are still swarmed with hari raya spirit ...so i think it is not too late to wish you all selamat hari raya... hope we all enjoy the celebration in whatever means and will .... as usual aidifitri has always come with anticipation to me and left with memories ....unique one everytime

3) went to dubai recently. dubai always gives me certain feeling of excitement - it is big boys playground .... the pace of development is difficult to comprehend .... at the turn of the millenium ... i hardly heard about the place ....but now the sands in the dessert have been sculpted into hundreds if not thousands of skyscrapers .....as usual i would pause and try to relate this to history ...i am not historian and my knowledge about it graces at the top most layer only ...very shallow. i imagine what is happening in dubai and uae as how ancient emperors of past civilisations created their legacies ....what moves this is vision of strong leadership - one of the ingredients and of course plus deep pockets and others....

4) apart from that .... being away from home and not watching bernama tv or tv3 news ... exposed me to the reality of the world and uninsulated news...buzz words around were economic recession .... despite being gung ho about development there were shaky feelings in the air about the free fall of the stock market in dubai, abu dhabi and the rest of gcc .... again my comprehension about economy is worst than my history knowledge ...but from what i gathered the numbers indicate whether we would get bonus next year or not ... or even worse whether we could get to keep our job next month or not ...got a message in my facebook page from a friend in uk that he had become casualty of the thing called redundancy ...well that what translates when stock market fall to people on the street...

5) thats all for now .... weekend comes again .... what weekend means during this month of syawal is we have to set for another round of open house trail ....not a bad thing ...it is part of modern day malaysian culture that promote silaturrahim ....

16 ramadhan / 16 september

16.09.2008 - i believe like most people in the country ...this date is being waited with anticipation .... no ...not exactly due to malaysia day ... it has been about 45 malaysia days before and i dont think people pay that much attention as today ... i dont remember 20,000 people gather in a stadium just solely to celebrate malaysia day eve like last night... not many people even remember the date 'malaysia' was born ... the question now will it happen or not ? ...

Ulat + express bus + ticket balik raya

about a week ago there was a discussion on how to eliminate the 'ulat' or touts in the bus stations especially puduraya on one of the local radio stations... that initiates me to put my thought around that issues.

when i first set foot in the city more than 20 years ago, i was quite impressed with how bus tickets were transacted in puduraya during that time. it was orderly with all the ticket sellers sat quietly inside the designated booths. the booths were well lit and uniformly labelled according to bus companies.. no sight of the sellers pushing their hands out of the booth windows waving and shouting trying to attract the customers let alone ulats wondering around intimidatingly luring the passengers..

However things had chaotically gone backwards recently ... the situation at the ticketing area at puduraya is almost similar to the selayang wholesale market...

the solution could be ... get rid of all the manual ticket sellers ... get online . yes bus ticket should be sold online . people can buy tickets from the comfort of their work stations in the office or at home or wherever wi-fi could reach them ...no you dont even need computer - you can by tickets from your pda or 3G handphones... to those who are not that IT literate or do not have access to these facilities, probably petrol station or post office could offer this service .... our modern sophisticated society should move on in prallel with the time ... just a thought !

Salam Ramadhan

I hope it is not too late to wish happy ramadhan to all . nowadays it is pretty common to receive sms wishes on whatever ocassions and one of them is ramadhan ... among the wishes that i received is copied below and sent by one of my friends from dubai ...i wanted to post it as soon as i received it however the 'procrastination' disease is still in my vein - so delayed again ... btw this is the wishes note
